Hi! My name is Bea Phi. I’m a Vietnamese American film critic, editor, and arts worker based in Brooklyn, and I’d love to write about Asian cinema for you.

Currently, I’m an editorial assistant at BOMB Magazine, an assistant editor of online resources at Poets & Writers, an assistant at The Space Program, and a library consultant at the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, where I’m helping archive and digitize the historic Asian/Pacific American Journal. In the past, I’ve freelanced for BOMB Magazine’s Oral History Project, Harvard Graduate School of Design’s Pairs journal, Wikipedia’s social media, and other clientele, as well as helped research for Beneath the Mountain: An Anti-Prison Reader edited by Mumia Abu-Jamal and Jennifer Black and published by City Lights Books in 2024.

I frequently edit the English Wikipedia in my free time and wrote the pages for Criterion Closet, performative male, becoming Chinese, Wasian, Wonyoungism, swag gap, Smiski, office siren, Katseye’s Gap commercial, and over five hundred others as mentioned in The New York Times. As a community member, I occasionally train new users on how to edit, facilitate edit-a-thon events, and shoot professional photography for WikiPortraits, a project to improve photo coverage on Wikimedia Commons.
